How to Change Your Squarespace Account Subdomain

If you’re using Squarespace’s built-in subdomain (it’s usually something random like… cheese-cobbler0T4M.squarespace.com), you can swap it for something cleaner and more on-brand in just a few clicks. Here’s the quick rundown.

Why You Might Want to Change It

  • Your default subdomain is long or random.

  • You want a branded link while building your site.

  • You’re sharing previews with collaborators or clients.

Where to Find the Setting

  1. Log in to your Squarespace site.

  2. In the left-hand menu, at the bottom, click the gear icon for Settings.

  3. Choose Site Availability & Subdomain (or Site Subdomain depending on your version).

How to Update It

  • Enter your new subdomain — something short and recognizable.

  • Squarespace will check if it’s available.

  • Click Save, and your site instantly moves to the new address.

Quick Tips

  • Keep it simple: avoid dashes or extra words.

  • This won’t affect your branded/custom domain you can still connect yourdomain.com anytime.

  • Share the updated link with anyone who needs access during the build.
