How to Change Your Squarespace Account Subdomain
If you’re using Squarespace’s built-in subdomain (it’s usually something random like… cheese-cobbler0T4M.squarespace.com), you can swap it for something cleaner and more on-brand in just a few clicks. Here’s the quick rundown.
Why You Might Want to Change It
Your default subdomain is long or random.
You want a branded link while building your site.
You’re sharing previews with collaborators or clients.
Where to Find the Setting
Log in to your Squarespace site.
In the left-hand menu, at the bottom, click the gear icon for Settings.
Choose Site Availability & Subdomain (or Site Subdomain depending on your version).
How to Update It
Enter your new subdomain — something short and recognizable.
Squarespace will check if it’s available.
Click Save, and your site instantly moves to the new address.
Quick Tips
Keep it simple: avoid dashes or extra words.
This won’t affect your branded/custom domain you can still connect yourdomain.com anytime.
Share the updated link with anyone who needs access during the build.
