Some businesses need more than Squarespace can do natively, a live database, a customer portal, an ordering system with real business logic behind it. We love building these, and we're actively growing this side of what we offer.

Unlike Squarespace, a custom app or integration needs attention once it ships. APIs change. Zaps break. Third-party services update their pricing or their rules without telling anyone. Watching for that and fixing it when it happens is real, ongoing work, separate from the build itself.

None of that is part of our subscription, and none of it scales with a fixed monthly investment. So we handle it one of two ways: a flat monthly add-on for small, well-defined connections (a single automation, an embedded calculator, a simple integration) that includes building it keeping an eye on it, or a scoped project for anything that's genuinely a custom app or platform, with a maintenance plan available once it's live.
